A big battery makes the cable choice obvious
With 96 kWh usable from the 99.8 kWh pack, the EV9 is the car where a slow cable costs you real time. On a 16A lead a full charge is a day and a half. On the 32A single phase cable it is an overnight job plus a few hours.
The 7.4 kW ceiling is the house, not the cable: three phase ratings only mean something where three phases arrive. So 11 kW is a workplace number rather than a driveway one, and the cable that matters at the house is the 32A single phase Type 2.

Times below are computed from the pack size and the power drawn with 13 per cent allowed for charging losses. Up to 349 miles WLTP on the rear drive car. Range added per hour assumes a year round 3.5 miles per kWh rather than a best case figure. On a battery this size, charging little and often beats waiting for empty to full.
Which length to buy
The port is on the rear offside quarter panel behind the rear door, and the EV9 is over five metres long, so length matters more here than on a hatchback. Reverse in with the charge point on the offside and 5 metres is workable. Any other arrangement, including nose in parking, and the lead has to travel most of the car, so 10 metres is the sensible order.
For a shared bay or a charger at the top of a long drive, 15 metres removes the guesswork with a car this size.

How long does a Kia EV9 take to charge at home?
About fifteen hours from empty on a 7.4 kW home charger, because the usable battery is 96 kWh. In practice nobody charges from empty: a seven hour overnight window adds roughly 180 miles.
What cable does the EV9 need?
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 32A single phase. The car accepts 11 kW on AC but that requires a three phase 400V supply, which British homes do not have.
Is the 16A cable ever sensible on an EV9?
Not really. It halves the rate on the largest battery Kia sells here, which turns an already long charge into a very long one. Buy 16A only if your charge point is a 3.6 kW unit.
