Twelve Audis, all of them Type 2, and the split is cleaner than most: two cars are capped well below what a British charge point can supply, and the other ten take everything a 32 amp lead gives them.
What the third column means
A single phase supply and a 32 amp charge point give about 7.4 kW, and that is the ceiling for every car listed. Higher ratings need three phases that British housing stock does not have, and lower ratings are set by the car. The table shows what each model actually takes, not what its brochure headline says.
What actually separates one Audi from another
The A3 TFSI e and the Q3 TFSI e run 3.6 kW onboard chargers. That is the car limiting itself, not your supply, and a 16 amp lead already delivers all of it. Everything else here, from the Q5 TFSI e up to the e-tron GT and the Q6 e-tron, reaches 7.4 kW on a single phase and wants the 32 amp lead.
Where Audi gets genuinely interesting is the e-tron and e-tron GT, which carry a socket on each front wing. That is unusual, and it changes the cable you need rather than just being a curiosity: one inlet always faces your charge point, so a shorter lead often does a job that would need ten metres on a single port car of the same size. Only one of the two takes DC, which matters at a motorway rapid and not at all on a driveway.
Audi is the least forthcoming manufacturer here on charge port position. For several models it simply does not publish which flank the socket is on, and rather than infer it we say so on the model page and suggest you look. It takes ten seconds and beats a guess.
Choosing a length
Two things set the length: where your charge point is mounted and which corner of the car the flap sits in. Get both and the answer is obvious. Guess either and you will either be stretching a lead or coiling four spare metres on the drive.
The two-port e-tron cars are the exception to the usual advice and often need less than their size suggests. Everything else with a rear flank socket follows the normal rule.
How these cables are built

Audi charging cable questions
Why does my A3 TFSI e charge so slowly?
Its onboard charger is 3.6 kW, so the car is the limit rather than your charge point. A 16A lead already supplies everything it can take, and a bigger one changes nothing.
Does the e-tron really have two charge ports?
Yes, one on each front wing. Both accept AC, and only one carries the DC rapid charging pins. It usually means you can buy a shorter cable than the size of the car suggests.
What does an Audi take on a home wallbox?
Most of the range takes 7.4 kW, which is what a 32A single phase charge point gives. The A3 and Q3 plug-in hybrids stop at 3.6 kW.
Where is the charging socket on my Audi?
It varies, and Audi does not publish it for several models. The model pages state the position where it is known and say so plainly where it is not, rather than guessing.
Do I need a three phase cable?
