The biggest pack on the site meets a normal home supply
The EX90 carries 107 kWh usable on 2024 to 2025 cars and 102 kWh on the 2026 build, for 354 to 388 miles WLTP depending on version. Volvo's own figure for a full charge is about eleven hours on a three phase 16 amp supply.
On paper 11 kW, in a driveway 7.4 kW, and the difference is the supply rather than the car or the cable. On one phase that eleven hours becomes roughly sixteen. There is no 22 kW option to help, either: we looked, and none exists for the EX90 at any model year, which is unusual for a car of this size and price. So the practical answer is that the EX90 charges overnight and you plan around it, which on a pack this big is rarely a hardship.

The calculation is the battery over the delivered kW, uplifted 13 per cent for charging losses, quarter hour rounded. The range column assumes 3.5 miles per kWh rather than a summer best case. Columns are the 2026 Twin Motor at 102 kWh usable and the earlier Twin Motor Performance at 107. A seven hour off peak window at 7.4 kW moves about 180 miles into the car, which on this pack is roughly half of it.
The three pin row is on the table for completeness and should be read as a warning rather than an option. A 13 amp socket needs the better part of three days to fill this battery, so carry the cable for hotels and emergencies, not as a plan.
DC rapid charging is where the EX90 makes its time up, and the figure is disputed: Volvo's marketing says 350 kW for a 22 minute 10 to 80 per cent stop, while the per-variant database figures give 250 kW. Most likely a model year change.
Which length for an EX90
The inlet is reported on the rear nearside, the left hand side of the body, consistent with every other Volvo electric car. We will be straight that this one rests on a single database family with no independent UK source and Volvo does not state it, so if the difference between 5 and 10 metres matters to you, look before you order.
What is not in doubt is the size of the car. At 5.04 metres the EX90 is one of the longest things on this site, and a rear port on a five metre car means 5 metres of cable only works when you reverse in and the charge point is on the left. Everything else is 10 metres, and a long drive or shared parking is where the 15 and 20 metre versions belong. Measure from the charge point to the inlet as the car actually parks, then add two metres of slack.

Construction is to IEC 62196-2 with CE marking, IP55 weather protection and a -30C to +50C operating range.

What cable does a Volvo EX90 need?
A 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable, and we would buy 10 metres rather than 5 on a car this long. The 11 kW rating is three phase; a home supply gives 7.4 kW.
How long does an EX90 take to charge at home?
Around sixteen hours from genuinely empty at 7.4 kW. Volvo's own eleven hour figure assumes a three phase 16 amp supply, which almost no house has.
Can the EX90 take a 22 kW charger?
No. We found no evidence that 22 kW AC has ever been offered on the EX90 in any market or model year. It is 11 kW three phase, 7.4 kW on one.
Where is the charge port?
Reported on the rear nearside, the left of the body, matching Volvo's other electric cars. Volvo does not publish it, so check yours if cable length is tight.
