Two Superb iVs, and both are 16A cars at home
The first generation arrived in the UK in January 2020 as a hatch and an estate, with a 13 kWh battery, up to 34 or 35 miles of electric range and a 3.6 kW onboard charger. Skoda quoted three and a half hours from a wall box, and a road test on a 22 kW public point still took four to five hours, because the car was the limit rather than the post.
The second generation, estate only and open for UK orders from July 2024, is a much bigger step than the badge suggests: 19.7 kWh usable from a 25.7 kWh pack, up to 84 miles of electric range, and an 11 kW charger. Skoda quotes two and a half hours. The catch is what 11 kW means on a British driveway.
Why the newer car still only needs a 16A lead
That 11 kW unit is 16 amps spread across three phases. A Skoda owner who found their 7 kW home charger only delivering 4 kW asked Skoda technical support about it, and was told the car takes about 16 to 20 amps from a single phase, which comes to roughly 4 kW. A house has one phase, so that is the figure that applies to you.
So Skoda's two and a half hours is a three phase time, achievable at a workplace and not at home. On one phase you are looking at closer to five and a half hours, and a 16A cable delivers all of it. A heavier lead makes no difference, because nothing downstream of the onboard charger sets the pace.
How long a full charge takes

Hours come from dividing the pack by the power the car actually draws, with 13 per cent added for losses. The 13 kWh column is the first generation, which cannot use the three phase row either, since its charger is a plain 3.6 kW single phase unit. The 19.7 kWh column is the current estate.
One genuine advantage of the newer car: it is the first Skoda plug-in hybrid with DC rapid charging, taking CCS at up to 50 kW for a 10 to 80 per cent stop in about 26 minutes. The first generation has no DC at all, so on that car the Type 2 lead is the only way the battery ever refills.
Which length for a Superb iV
On the first generation the socket sits behind a flap in the radiator grille, at the front. Skoda has never published which side of the grille it favours, and we have not found it for the second generation at all, so rather than guess we will say the honest thing: look at your own car before choosing a length.
What is certain is that the Superb is a long car, 4.9 metres as a hatch and a little more as an estate, which pushes the answer towards 10 metres for anything other than parking nose-in at a charge point on the correct side. The honest way to choose is to measure the real parking position and allow two metres spare.
How these cables are built
Construction is to IEC 62196-2 with CE marking, IP55 weather protection and a -30C to +50C operating range.
The three pin unit is IEC 62752 compliant, CE marked, IP67 against water and rated -30C to +60C. Warranty is two years from the manufacturer, delivery free next working day, returns accepted for 30 days.

Skoda Superb iV charging cable questions
What cable does a Superb iV need?
A 16A Type 2 to Type 2 lead covers both generations. The first is a plain 3.6 kW car; the second is quoted at 11 kW but draws only about 4 kW from a single phase British supply.
Why is my Superb iV charging at 4 kW on a 7 kW charger?
Because the 11 kW onboard charger is 16 amps across three phases and your house has one. Skoda's own technical support confirms roughly 16 to 20 amps from a single phase. Your charger is fine.
Can a Superb iV rapid charge?
The 2024 estate can, taking CCS at up to 50 kW for a 10 to 80 per cent stop in about 26 minutes. The 2020 to 2024 car cannot: it is AC only, so the cable is the only way to charge it.
Where is the charge port?
At the front. On the first generation it is behind a flap in the radiator grille. Skoda does not publish which side, so check yours if a 5 metre cable would be marginal.
