Two ports, both at the front, and only one takes DC
This car has two charge ports, one on each front wing, and almost nobody mentions it. The offside socket is the combined Type 2 and CCS inlet and takes rapid charging as well; the nearside one handles AC only. The practical effect is that your charge point always has an inlet on its own side of the car, so you can buy for the shorter run rather than the longer.
Porsche GB puts it exactly: "AC charging is possible on both sides of the vehicle" but "DC fast charging is only possible on the passenger side, where the designated fast-charging port is located". On a right hand drive car the passenger side is the nearside, so the combined AC and DC port sits on the nearside front wing and the offside one is AC only.
One honest caveat on which flank carries DC
We would rather flag this than pretend it is settled. Porsche GB, EV Database UK pages and a UK owner all put the DC port on the nearside of a right hand drive car. Two other sources, Zapmap and an Australian technical fact sheet, place it on the offside, most likely reproducing left hand drive data without localising it.
The port end is not in dispute: both are in the front wings. If the DC flank matters to you, check your own car before ordering. For home AC charging it does not matter at all, because either port takes the Type 2 lead.
At home it is 7.4 kW, upgrade or not
Twenty two kilowatts is a public charging number, not a home one. The option needs three phases at 32 amps each; a house offers one phase at 32 amps, so the car draws 7.4 kW whether the upgrade is fitted or not. Buy it for the office car park, not the drive.
A 22 kW charger was optional on cars to 2023 and was reportedly dropped for the 2024 facelift, with dealers now fitting 11 kW units where a 22 kW one has failed. Owners on the UK forums worked the sums out for themselves years ago: twenty two divided by three is 7.33 kW, and that is what one phase of it gives. The 19.2 kW charger upgrade was a North American thing and never came here.
Batteries and rapid charging
Pre facelift cars had a 79.2 kWh Performance Battery, 71 usable, or a 93.4 kWh Performance Battery Plus with 83.7 usable, charging at 225 or 270 kW. The 2024 facelift grew both: 89 kWh gross with 82.3 usable, and 105 kWh gross with 97 usable, and lifted the DC peak to 320 kW with ten to eighty per cent in about eighteen minutes.
WLTP range across the facelift range runs from 329 miles on a Turbo Cross Turismo to 434 on the rear drive saloon. A pre facelift rear drive car on the smaller pack was homologated at 268 miles.
How long a full charge takes

The arithmetic is simple: kWh over kW, 13 per cent on top for losses, rounded to the nearest quarter hour. The miles column uses 3.5 miles per kWh, which holds up in winter as well as summer. The two figures cover the facelift Performance Battery and Performance Battery Plus.
Only one port can be open at a time, so there is no charging from both flanks at once. That is a limitation nobody is going to notice in practice. Work it out from where the car genuinely sits, not where it could sit, and leave slack.
How these cables are built

Porsche Taycan charging cable questions
Does the Taycan have two charge ports?
Yes, one in each front wing. Both accept AC. Only the passenger side port carries the DC rapid charging pins.
Which side is the rapid charging port on a UK car?
Porsche GB says the passenger side, which is the nearside on a right hand drive car. A couple of other sources say the offside, so check your own car if it matters.
Is the 22 kW charger any use in Britain?
Not at home. It is a three phase device and a house has one phase, so it gives the same 7.4 kW as the standard 11 kW charger.
What cable length do I need?
Often less than you would expect, because one of the two front ports always faces your charge point. Five metres covers many driveways; ten if the run is awkward.
