Five trims, two powertrains, one cable
UK buyers choose between Origin, V1, V2, VZ1 and VZ2, and behind those five names sit two powertrains: a 286 PS rear-wheel-drive car quoted at up to 353 miles, and a 340 PS four-wheel-drive VZ at 324. Both use the same 77 kWh usable pack out of an 82 kWh gross battery, and both use the same charger. A 58 kWh version joined the range in May 2026 with the same hardware again.
So the trim decision and the cable decision are completely independent of each other. Whichever Tavascan is on the driveway, the lead is the same one.
Why the manufacturer time does not match your driveway
A car quoted at 11 kW or 22 kW is quoting a three phase figure, and a single phase British house will give it 7.4 kW. A 32A single phase cable therefore carries everything the car can take at home, and nothing further is worth paying for.
One database puts the consequence in plain terms for this car: in practice the charge power will often be 7.4 kW, giving a full charge in twelve and a quarter hours. That is a longer number than Cupra publishes, and it is the honest one for a British house. It is not a fault in the car and it is not something a heavier cable fixes; it is simply what one phase carries.

The arithmetic is simple: kWh over kW, 13 per cent on top for losses, rounded to the nearest quarter hour. Miles per hour is worked at 3.5 miles per kWh, a figure that survives a cold morning. Twelve hours from genuinely flat is a number worth understanding rather than planning around, because a Tavascan almost never arrives home empty.
For the long journeys the car has a 135 kW DC connection and a ten to eighty stop of about 28 minutes. The pattern that saves the money, though, is the boring one: plug in, go to bed, wake up full.
Which length for a Tavascan
The charge flap is on the offside rear quarter panel, which on a 4.64 metre coupe SUV puts it a long way from the nose. If your wall box sits near the house and you reverse in, the run is short. If you drive in forwards, you are routing the lead the length of the car before it reaches anything.
On that basis we would call 10 metres the default for a Tavascan and 5 metres the choice only where the charge point is close to the rear offside corner as the car actually parks. The measurement that counts is the one taken with the car in its usual spot, plus a margin for the slack the lead needs.

How long does a Tavascan take to charge at home?
About twelve hours from empty at 7.4 kW on the 77 kWh pack. In practice you are replacing a day's driving rather than filling from nothing, which is a few hours.
Does the VZ charge faster than the Origin?
No. The VZ has more power and slightly less range, but the same 77 kWh battery and the same charger, so charging is identical.
What length should I buy for a Tavascan?
Ten metres suits most driveways, because the socket is at the offside rear of a 4.64 metre car. Five metres works where the charge point sits close to that rear corner as you actually park.
