Nothing is lost on a British supply
This is one of the simpler cars in the catalogue and the reason is that there is no three phase version of it. The Renegade 4xe has a single phase charger, Jeep UK rates it at 7.4 kW and quotes a full charge in one hour forty minutes, and German technical data records the same unit as 7.2 kW with 96 minutes to full. Both work out at about 7 kW delivered, so it is one charger described two ways, and neither figure depends on a supply a house does not have.
A heavier lead makes no difference, because nothing downstream of the onboard charger sets the pace. The 32A single phase cable is therefore the right buy: it carries everything the car takes, and a 16A lead would roughly double that hour and forty minutes.
There is no rapid charging socket
This car has no DC inlet whatsoever, which puts the whole charging job on the Type 2 lead. A motorway rapid is simply not available to it, and a car that arrives from a dealer with no cable cannot be charged at all until one turns up.
Three sources establish it. The German catalogue lists a Type 2 inlet with no DC row and no DC power figure across two different build years. Stellantis' own launch release for the Renegade and Compass 4xe describes only alternating current charging. And Jeep UK's Renegade 4xe charging page offers a Mode 2 domestic cable and a Mode 3 public cable and stops there.
The Mode 2 lead Jeep supplies is six metres and rated up to 3 kW, which on an 11.4 kWh battery is a genuine overnight fallback rather than a token gesture.
The battery, and the figure nobody publishes
The pack is 11.4 kWh gross at 400 volts, NMC-graphite chemistry, mounted under the second row of seats. Electric range varies with trim and wheels: German data records 44 km, about 27 miles, on a 2022 Upland and 48 km, about 30 miles, on a 2024 Trailhawk. Stellantis has also quoted an average of 50 km, which is a pan-European marketing figure rather than a UK homologation one.
What does not exist anywhere is a usable capacity. Stellantis publishes gross only and the German catalogue's net field is blank, and because this is a plug-in hybrid there is no independent database to fill the gap. So 11.4 kWh is the figure, its basis is gross, and any usable number quoted elsewhere is an estimate.
One practical note: the Renegade appears to have been withdrawn from Jeep's current UK line-up, so this is now largely a used car proposition. The cable requirement does not change.

Figures are calculated rather than quoted: battery divided by power, 13 per cent for losses, quarter hour rounding. Range added per hour assumes a year round 3.5 miles per kWh rather than a best case figure. Working from the 11.4 kWh gross figure, which is why the top row is slightly longer than Jeep's own one hour forty minutes.
Under two hours to fill the battery is the whole appeal of a small plug-in hybrid. Plug in when you get home, and the first thirty miles of the next day cost a few pence rather than a few pounds.
Which length for a Renegade 4xe
Stellantis describes the port in vehicle terms: at the rear on the vehicle's left side, under a push-open, push-close cover. On a UK right hand drive car that is the nearside rear, which is the kerb side.
The Renegade is 4.24 metres, so with a rear socket ten metres is the comfortable default and five metres works where the car reverses in next to the charge point. Measure from the charge point to the inlet as the car actually parks, then add two metres of slack.
