    The one Leapmotor family that is genuinely three phase

    Most of the Leapmotor range is 6.6 kW and single phase, which means it gets its full rate at a British house. The B10 and the B05 are the exceptions: both have an 11 kW three phase charger, and that changes the answer.

    Britain wires houses on one phase, so the 11 kW on the spec sheet becomes 7.4 kW on the driveway. So the 32A single phase lead is the whole decision, and the manufacturer charge time you have read is a three phase one. A UK source puts numbers on it: 7 kW home charging gives a full charge in nine hours forty minutes, which on a 67.1 kWh pack is 6.94 kW and consistent with a 7.4 kW single phase ceiling, and it notes the car can also charge at 11 kW where three phase power is available.

    Worth knowing if your household has both, or if you are moving from one to the other. The B10 charges from the offside rear, confirmed as "back right" by a UK source describing a right hand drive car. The C10 charges from the nearside rear. The T03 charges from the front grille.

    There is no house style to rely on across this brand, so the length that suited one Leapmotor may be wrong for another even though the cars are similar sizes.

    Battery, range and an unusual claim

    The UK takes the 67.1 kWh version only; a 56.2 kWh B10 exists elsewhere but is not sold here. Range is 270 miles WLTP, agreed by the price guide, the press pack and the independent data, and DC charging is 168 kW for a thirty to eighty stop of 20 minutes.

    Leapmotor makes an unusual claim about the battery: its UK press pack states 67.1 kWh with "useable = total". Every independent source disagrees, giving 65.0 kWh usable against 67.1 nominal. We have used Leapmotor number because it is the manufacturer figure, while noting that a pack with no reserve at all would be remarkable and we would not build a range calculation on it.

    Vehicle-to-load is standard, described by Leapmotor as a 230 volt output. The 3.3 kW figure quoted elsewhere comes from an independent database rather than from Leapmotor.

    How long a full charge takes

    Each figure is the pack size divided by the power actually drawn, with 13 per cent added for charging losses and the result rounded to the quarter hour. Miles per hour is worked at a conservative 3.5 miles per kWh. Our top row is close to the measured nine hours forty minutes on a 7 kW supply.

    Ten hours from empty on the figure that applies to a house. At 7.4 kW the B10 gains about 26 miles an hour, so a seven hour cheap-rate window covers 180 miles of driving.

    Which length for a B10

    Measure to the offside rear corner. The B10 is 4.52 metres, so ten metres is the sensible default and five metres works where you reverse in with the charge point on the right.

    Fifteen metres suits a long driveway or a charge point on the far side of a shared parking area. Pace it out from the socket to the flap with the car parked as it always is, then allow a little extra.

    How these cables are built

    IEC 62196-2 construction, CE marked, IP55 sealed and tested from -30C through to +50C.

    Leapmotor B10 charging cable questions

    Will a B10 charge at 11 kW at home?

    No. That needs three phases. On a British single phase supply it draws 7.4 kW, which a 32A cable delivers, and a UK measurement of nine hours forty minutes for a full charge confirms it.

    Which side is the charge socket on?

    Offside rear. That is the opposite flank to the Leapmotor C10, so do not assume one cable length suits both.

    Is the B10 the same as the B10 Hybrid?

    No. The Hybrid is a range extender with an 18.8 kWh battery and a 6.6 kW single phase charger, so it charges differently even though the cable is the same.

    How big is the battery really?

    Leapmotor states 67.1 kWh and describes usable as equal to total, which is an unusual claim. Independent data gives 65.0 kWh usable from a 67.1 kWh pack.
