    The numbers that make the B05 interesting

    On sale in the UK from July 2026 at 30,495 pounds, or 28,995 after the grant, the B05 is quoted at 300 miles WLTP from a 67.1 kWh pack, at 15.9 kWh per 100 kilometres. DC charging reaches 174 kW by Leapmotor own figure, with thirty to eighty per cent in 17 minutes; the German catalogue says 168 kW and agrees on the time.

    Three hundred miles and a seventeen minute rapid stop from a car at this price is a serious proposition, and it is worth noting the UK gets the larger battery only - the 56.2 kWh version sold elsewhere is not offered here.

    At a house it is a 7.4 kW car

    Those 11 kW and 22 kW ratings need three phases to appear. On a normal home supply the number is 7.4 kW. So the 32A single phase lead is the whole decision, and the manufacturer charge time you have read is a three phase one.

    The B05 shares its 11 kW three phase charger with the B10 and is one of only two Leapmotors that has one; the T03, the C10 and both range extenders are 6.6 kW single phase instead. An 11 kW three phase unit is 400 volts at 16 amps on each of three phases, so one British phase at 32 amps gives 7.4 kW.

    We should be straight about one gap: no UK source publishes a single phase charge time for this car. The German data gives 480 minutes at 11 kW three phase, which on 67.1 kWh is 8.4 kW average and consistent with an 11 kW cap. Scaling that to one phase puts a full charge somewhere around ten hours, which is what our table shows.

    The socket, and the pattern across this range

    The B05 charges from the offside rear, translated from European data with no right hand drive source available for this specific model. The closely related B10 is independently confirmed as offside rear by a UK source, and the two share a platform, so the position is well founded even if not directly verified.

    The wider pattern is worth carrying in your head if you look at more than one Leapmotor: T03 at the front, C10 at the nearside rear, B05 and B10 at the offside rear. Three arrangements in one showroom.

    The calculation is the battery over the delivered kW, uplifted 13 per cent for charging losses, quarter hour rounded. Range added per hour assumes a year round 3.5 miles per kWh rather than a best case figure. Leapmotor describes the 67.1 kWh figure as usable, a claim the independent data disputes by giving 65.0 kWh usable, so treat the table as a close approximation rather than a precise reading.

    Ten hours from flat at home against seventeen minutes for thirty to eighty on a rapid charger. That gap is what the two kinds of charging are for: the cable does the cheap, unhurried, overnight work and the rapid network handles journeys.

    Which length for a B05

    Measure to the offside rear corner with the car parked as it usually sits. The B05 is 4.52 metres, so a rear socket puts most driveways into ten metre territory, with five metres working only for a reversed-in car beside its wall box.

    Vehicle-to-load is standard on the B05, and it works through the same socket, so a lead that reaches comfortably is useful for more than charging. Work it out from where the car genuinely sits, not where it could sit, and leave slack.

    How these cables are built

    The lead is an IEC 62196-2 design, CE marked, IP55 sealed against a British winter and rated from -30C to +50C.

    Three pin leads are made to IEC 62752, CE marked and IP67 sealed, with a -30C to +60C specification. It carries a two year manufacturer's warranty, ships free on next working day delivery, and can go back inside 30 days.
