The rapid charging is worth a paragraph of its own
The German motoring association makes the point better than we could. Its Evoque entry notes that unlike many plug-in hybrids, this one can also be charged at rapid chargers using direct current through a CCS plug, at up to 32 kW, so eighty per cent of the battery should be full in thirty minutes.
For an owner that is the difference between arriving somewhere with a dead battery and running the last part of a journey on petrol, or spending half an hour at a service station and driving the rest of it electrically. The Type 2 cable still does the overnight work, but the CCS socket means the car is not stranded on electricity when you are away from it.
The home charging figure is the honest kind
Refreshingly, nothing is lost here. Land Rover fits a single phase 7 kW charger and says so plainly, which means the figure in the brochure is the figure on your driveway rather than a three phase number you cannot reach.
Land Rover publishes nought to eighty per cent in one hour twenty-four minutes at 7 kW on the earlier P300e and two hours twelve minutes to a full charge on the current P270e. Divide the pack by the time and you land on 6.96 kW, which is what a 7 kW unit delivers in practice. There is no three phase number hiding behind it and nothing to be disappointed by.
A bigger cable cannot change this, because the limit sits in the car rather than the lead. A 32A cable carries 7.4 kW and therefore has a shade of headroom over the car.
Two generations, and what actually improved
The P300e of 2020 to 2023 has a 15 kWh pack with 12.17 kWh usable and was quoted first at 34 miles of electric range, later homologated at 41. The P270e from 2024 carries 11.98 kWh usable, and Land Rover quotes 36 to 38 miles with a single-configuration figure of 37.
German data gives the newer car 14.9 kWh gross and 11.5 net, which does not quite line up with Land Rover own numbers. We would trust the Land Rover usable figure and treat the gross one as unsettled, because the documents changed format between 2024 and 2026 and stopped printing both.

Hours are worked from battery size against power drawn, plus a 13 per cent allowance for what is lost as heat, rounded to fifteen minutes. The range column is deliberately cautious, at 3.5 miles per kWh. Columns are the P270e and the P300e. Land Rover own three pin figure is six hours forty-two minutes to full.
Around two hours on a wall box, and the whole battery replaced overnight from a household socket if that is all you have. On a car with 37 miles of electric range, that is enough to make the engine an occasional visitor rather than the main event.
Which length for an Evoque
Land Rover own wording is that the flap sits on the rear fender, on the opposite side from the fuel filler, which puts it at the nearside rear on a UK car. That phrasing is steering-independent, which is why we prefer it to the left and right descriptions in European data.
The Evoque is 4.37 metres. Ten metres is the safe choice with a rear socket; five metres reaches where you reverse onto the drive and the charge point sits near that corner. The honest way to choose is to measure the real parking position and allow two metres spare.
How these cables are built
Standards are IEC 62196-2 and CE, protection is IP55, and the specified working range runs -30C to +50C.
Three pin construction follows IEC 62752, CE marked, IP67 rated, usable from -30C to +60C. The manufacturer warrants it for two years, delivery in the UK is free and next working day, and returns run to 30 days.

Can an Evoque plug-in hybrid use a rapid charger?
Yes, at up to 32 kW through its CCS socket, with eighty per cent in about thirty minutes. Most plug-in hybrids cannot do this at all.

How long does it take to charge at home?

Is 7 kW slow?
Not for this car. The battery is around 12 kWh usable, so 7 kW fills it in a couple of hours. The number only looks small next to a full electric car with six times the battery.
