A manufacturer that answers the question directly
Land Rover deserves credit here. Its own English-language material for this car reads: up to one hundred per cent with a home charger providing 7 kW on a single-phase supply. That is the exact sentence a British buyer needs and almost nobody writes it.
This is the rare case where there is no three phase disappointment to explain. The charger is a single phase 7 kW unit and Land Rover states it in exactly those words, so a British house supplies everything the car can take and the published charge time is the one you will actually see. The supporting evidence is consistent: the German catalogue lists no three phase capability at all and gives 300 minutes to full at 7.0 kW on one phase, and Land Rover UK quotes five hours. Thirty-one point eight usable kilowatt hours over five hours is 6.36 kW, and no 11 kW charger could produce that figure. A heavier lead makes no difference, because nothing downstream of the onboard charger sets the pace.
The socket moved in 2022, and it is a big change
The 2018 to 2021 P400e charges from a flap behind the badge in the front grille and has no DC socket at all. The current car, launched in 2022 as the P440e and P510e and renamed P460e and P550e, charges from the nearside rear flank and has a CCS inlet rated at 50 kW.
An American review of the new car noted the relocation explicitly, describing the port as having moved from the front grille to the rear. If you are replacing a cable that served an older Range Rover, the length that worked will very likely be wrong.
The biggest battery in any plug-in hybrid we write about
Thirty-eight point two kilowatt hours gross with 31.8 usable, confirmed independently by Land Rover technical insert and the German catalogue and agreeing to the decimal. That is a bigger pack than the entire battery of a first generation Nissan Leaf, sitting inside a car that also has a petrol engine.
It buys 65 to 72 miles of electric range on the P460e and 63 to 72 on the P550e, and Land Rover own real world estimate is 56 miles. The old P400e managed 13.1 kWh and about 22 to 25 miles. Rapid charging is 50 kW, with Land Rover UK quoting forty minutes to eighty per cent and both the German data and its own Swiss page saying under an hour.

Hours are worked from battery size against power drawn, plus a 13 per cent allowance for what is lost as heat, rounded to fifteen minutes. The range column is deliberately cautious, at 3.5 miles per kWh. Columns are the current car at 31.8 kWh usable and the older P400e at 13.1 kWh gross. Land Rover own figures for the current car are five hours on a wall box and fifteen from a domestic socket.
Fifteen hours on a three pin lead is the number that makes the case for a proper cable on this car. Five hours on a 32A lead fits inside one cheap-rate window and puts seventy miles of electric driving back in.
Which length for a Range Rover
The current car is 5.05 metres long with the socket at the nearside rear, which makes this a ten metre cable proposition on most driveways and a fifteen metre one where the charge point is at the far end of a drive or across a courtyard.
Five metres only works if you reverse in and the wall box is beside that rear corner. The older grille-charging car is the opposite case and can often use a short lead nose-in. Work it out from where the car genuinely sits, not where it could sit, and leave slack.
How these cables are built
Standards are IEC 62196-2 and CE, protection is IP55, and the specified working range runs -30C to +50C.
On the three pin side the standard is IEC 62752, with CE marking, IP67 sealing and a -30C to +60C range. Warranty is two years from the manufacturer, delivery free next working day, returns accepted for 30 days.
