One battery, three badges, no decision to make
Pro, Pro Performance and GTX 4MOTION all carry 77 kWh usable from an 82 kWh pack, quoted between about 331 and 347 miles WLTP. The ID.5 is the coupe-roofed ID.4, and like its sister car the only thing that moves across the range is the motor.
The 7.4 kW ceiling is the house, not the cable: three phase ratings only mean something where three phases arrive. The 32A single phase cable covers it in full. Anything quoted quicker elsewhere is a three phase figure rather than a home one. The seven and a half to eight and a half hour full charge figures published for the ID.5 are all measured on 11 kW.
What the coupe roof actually costs you
The ID.5 is the ID.4 with a sloping tail, and if you are cross-shopping the two it is worth knowing what carries over and what does not. Battery, motors, charger, connectors and charge port position are identical. Boot height and rear headroom are not.
For charging purposes that means everything on this page applies equally to an ID.4, and vice versa. The one thing the roofline does change is where the car tends to get parked: a lower tailgate makes people reverse in to load, which on a rear-port car is the arrangement that lets a 5 metre lead work.

Each figure is the pack size divided by the power actually drawn, with 13 per cent added for charging losses and the result rounded to the quarter hour. Miles per hour is worked at 3.5 miles per kWh, a figure that survives a cold morning. Just under twelve hours from genuinely empty, which nobody does. A seven hour off peak window moves about 180 miles into the car.
DC rapid charging climbed through the model years from 135 kW on the first cars to 185 kW on the latest GTX, so the ID.5 handles a long run without needing this cable at all.
Which length for an ID.5
Rear offside flank. Two things follow from that on a 4.6 metre car. If your wall box is on the right as you back onto the drive, the socket ends up within about a metre of it and five metres is generous. If it is on the left, the lead has to cross the car's width as well as run its length, and that is where people who bought five metres end up parking at an angle to make it reach.
The honest test is not the length of the car, it is whether the inlet finishes up on the same side as the charge point once the car is where it actually lives. The measurement that counts is the one taken with the car in its usual spot, plus a margin for the slack the lead needs.

What cable does an ID.5 need?
A 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The 11 kW rating is a three phase figure and a British home supply delivers 7.4 kW, which is what a 32A lead carries.
How long does an ID.5 take to charge at home?
Just under twelve hours from empty at 7.4 kW on the 77 kWh usable pack. The seven and a half to eight and a half hour figures quoted elsewhere assume an 11 kW three phase supply.
Is there a bigger battery version?
Not one we can confirm. Pro, Pro Performance and GTX all use the same 77 kWh usable pack; a 79 kWh version has been rumoured but we could not verify it against any manufacturer or technical source.
Where is the charge port?
The rear offside flank, on the right of the body. It sits there in every market rather than mirroring for right hand drive.
