It is a Type 2 van, and that is worth confirming
The EV80 is a Chinese built van sold here from 2018 to 2022, and with that origin and age there is a real question about the connector, because some Chinese market electric vehicles use the GB/T standard which fits nothing in Europe. The EV80 does not. It has a Type 2 socket for AC and a CCS Combo 2 socket for DC, one above the other behind a single flap, Type 2 uppermost.
That is recorded in German technical data, in a European van database, and by a UK reviewer who opened the flap on camera. So an EV80 works with ordinary UK charge points and ordinary Type 2 cables.
7.2 kW, and the house is not the limit
The onboard charger is 7.2 kW and single phase, which means a British supply delivers all of it with no phase arithmetic to do. German data gives a full charge as eight hours thirty minutes on a 7.2 kW single phase wall box, and 52 usable kilowatt hours over 8.5 hours is 6.1 kW average, which fits a 7.2 kW ceiling once taper and losses are allowed for.
UK press at the time quoted seven hours from a 7 kW wall box, which needs more than the van can draw, so the eight and a half hour figure is the defensible one. The car is the bottleneck, not the cable, so the extra current goes unused. A 32A cable carries the full 7.2 kW.
Rapid charging, with a caveat on the number
The EV80 does rapid charge, and the figure depends who you ask. German data says 22 kW with eighty per cent in 150 minutes; a European database logged a 28 kW peak in 78 minutes for ten to eighty; UK press said 30 kW in about 90. All three survive their own arithmetic, so the honest answer is around 30 kW with a range of 22 to 30. What it is not is 50 kW.
Some vans also carry a second Type 2 socket in the front bumper. Whether that was an early or a late fitment is disputed between a genuine parts listing and a UK reviewer, so check your own van.
Battery, range and payload
The pack is 56 kWh by the van's own model designation, with around 52 kWh usable, on lithium iron phosphate chemistry at 400 volts. Range is 190 km or 118 miles WLTP. The 119, 120 and 127 mile figures you will see in period road tests are older NEDC-era claims and should not be presented as WLTP.
The rest matters more for a working van: 92 kW and 320 newton metres driving the front wheels, 3,500 kg gross weight and 910 kg payload. The usual electric vehicle databases carry no entry for it at all.

Each figure is the pack size divided by the power actually drawn, with 13 per cent added for charging losses and the result rounded to the quarter hour. The range column is deliberately cautious, at 3.5 miles per kWh. Working from 52 kWh usable, which lands close to the manufacturer's own eight and a half hours.
For a van that works six days a week the overnight charge is the whole operation. Back at the yard by six in the evening, full by half past two in the morning, and away again at seven.
Which length for an EV80
The flap is on the offside front, by the driver's door, in the position the diesel van's fuel filler occupies. Two UK sources describe it that way and the German data agrees once you translate its left hand drive wording, which also tells us the position is not mirrored between markets.
A front socket on a long van is a real advantage. Five metres can work where the van noses in with the charge point on its right; ten suits a yard where vans park wherever there is room. Pace it out from the socket to the flap with the car parked as it always is, then allow a little extra.

LDV EV80 charging cable questions
Is the LDV EV80 Type 1, Type 2 or GB/T?
Type 2 for alternating current, with a separate CCS Combo 2 socket for rapid charging behind the same flap. It is not GB/T and not Type 1, so it works with ordinary UK charge points.
How long does an EV80 take to charge?
About eight and a half hours from a 7.2 kW single phase wall box, which is the manufacturer figure. Period road tests quoting seven hours assume more power than the van can draw.
How fast does it rapid charge?
Around 30 kW, though sources give 22, 28 and 30 kW and all three are internally consistent. Eighty per cent takes somewhere between 90 and 150 minutes depending which you believe.
Where is the charge socket?
Offside front, by the driver's door, where the diesel van has its fuel filler. Some vans also have a second Type 2 socket in the front bumper.
What is the real range?
118 miles WLTP. The 119 to 127 mile figures in older reviews are NEDC claims and are not comparable.
