Only the 2024 car was sold here
Worth knowing if you are shopping used. The Spring that arrived in Europe in 2021 was left hand drive only and was never sold in Britain. The 2024 facelift was the first right hand drive Spring, on order from March 2024, in Expression at 45 hp and Extreme at 65 hp. So a UK Spring is a 2024 car or later, which simplifies matters considerably.
Both trims share a 26.8 kWh battery and 140 miles WLTP. Dacia's brochure labels that 26.8 figure as the usable capacity, while EV Database treats it as the total and estimates 25 kWh usable. Nobody publishes both, so the honest position is that 26.8 is the number Dacia gives and its basis is not stated.
The socket is in the nose
This car charges from the front, not from a wing behind the doors. That makes the measurement simpler than usual - nose to wall box - and it means nosing into the space is what keeps the lead short.
On the Spring it sits behind the badge in the centre of the grille, and the owner's manual describes two sockets there: the Type 2 for AC and, depending on the vehicle, a second one for DC. That wording matters, because the DC socket is standard on Extreme and an option on Expression, so some Springs genuinely have no rapid charging at all. Where it is fitted, DC is 30 kW and Dacia quotes 20 to 80 per cent in 45 minutes.
A car that gives you everything at home
The charger is 7 kW and single phase, and that is the whole specification. Dacia publishes the case that applies to a British house directly: 20 to 100 per cent in four hours from a 7.4 kW single phase wall box, or ten hours fifty minutes from a 2.3 kW domestic socket.
The mirror image is worth knowing too. Because the charger only uses one phase, a three phase 16 amp public post gives the Spring 3.7 kW rather than 11. At home it is as quick as anything else its size; at a workplace with three phase power it falls behind. That is an unusual way round and nobody mentions it.
There is also vehicle-to-load, up to 3.7 kW through the same front socket using a connector Dacia stores under the boot carpet.

The arithmetic is simple: kWh over kW, 13 per cent on top for losses, rounded to the nearest quarter hour. Miles per hour is worked at 3.5 miles per kWh, a figure that survives a cold morning. Dacia's own 20 to 100 per cent figure of four hours is a little quicker than our full-charge arithmetic, which is expected: the last stretch of any battery charges slowest.
Five hours from flat on the top row makes the Spring one of the easiest cars in this catalogue to live with on a cheap overnight tariff. A three pin lead fills it in about fourteen hours, which is a genuine fallback rather than a theoretical one.
Which length for a Spring
Measure from the front of the car. The Spring is 3.70 metres long, so if you drive in facing your wall box a 5 metre lead is generous, and if you reverse in you are adding the length of a very small car to the run.
Ten metres covers reversed parking, a charge point set back from the bay, or a shared drive. Park the car where it normally lives, walk the run with a tape, and buy the next size up from what you measure.

It is a CE marked IEC 62196-2 cable, IP55 against the weather, rated to work between -30C and +50C.

Where is the charge socket on a Dacia Spring?
In the centre of the front grille, behind the badge flap. There is no nearside or offside to consider, so measure from the nose of the car.
What cable does a Spring need?
A 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The car takes 7 kW and a 32A lead carries slightly more, so the cable is never the limit.
How long does a Spring take to charge?

Do all Springs have rapid charging?
No. The 30 kW DC socket is standard on Extreme and an option on Expression, and Dacia's own manual says the DC socket is fitted "depending on the vehicle". Check yours rather than assuming.
Was the Spring sold in the UK before 2024?
No. The earlier car was left hand drive only. UK cars start with the 2024 facelift.
