Both versions give you everything at home
This is a plug-in hybrid with no three phase complication anywhere in it. The Boost has a 3.3 kW single phase charger and reaches fifteen to one hundred per cent in three hours. Comfort Lite and Comfort have 6.6 kW, also single phase, and take two hours forty-two minutes over the same window. Both figures are single phase figures, so a British house delivers them in full.
The practical conclusion is unusual and worth stating plainly: a 7 kW home charge point does nothing for a Boost that a 3.3 kW one would not do, and nothing for a Comfort beyond its 6.6 kW ceiling. No cable can lift that figure: the onboard charger decides it. A 16A cable carries 3.7 kW and therefore covers both versions with room to spare, which makes this one of the few cars in the range where we would not push you towards the 32A lead.
The Boost has no rapid charging at all
Comfort Lite and Comfort have a CCS socket rated at 26 kW, which gives thirty to eighty per cent in 23 minutes. It is a modest figure by 2026 standards and the German technical press has said so, but on a 19 kWh battery it is a genuinely useful twenty minute stop.
The Boost has no DC inlet whatsoever. No part of this car accepts DC, so rapid charging is off the table entirely. Charging happens through the Type 2 socket or it does not happen, and that makes the cable the one accessory the car genuinely cannot manage without.
Batteries, and what BYD does not tell you
The Boost carries 10.08 kWh for 34 miles of electric range in the saloon and 31 in the Touring, both quoted at 47 miles on the city cycle. Comfort Lite and Comfort carry 19 kWh for 65 miles in the saloon and 62 in the Touring, with 87 and 81 miles in town. Comfort Lite differs from Comfort only by screen size, which tells you how little separates them mechanically.
One caveat on the battery figures. BYD publishes a rated capacity for its plug-in hybrids and no usable figure at all, and there is no independent source to fill the gap, because the databases that publish usable capacities cover battery electric cars only. The numbers below are the rated ones, so real charge times run slightly shorter than the table suggests.

Every row here is an evening rather than a night. That is the appeal of a car like this: the electric range covers a commute, the charge fits into the cheap window easily, and the engine handles the occasions when it does not.
Which length for a Seal 6 DM-i
Charging happens from the offside rear quarter here, in the fuel-filler position. Whether that helps or hurts you depends on which way round the car sits on your driveway.
The saloon and the Touring are both a little under 4.9 metres, so with a rear offside socket ten metres is the comfortable default. Five metres works where the car reverses in and the charge point sits close to that corner. Park the car where it normally lives, walk the run with a tape, and buy the next size up from what you measure.

BYD Seal 6 DM-i charging cable questions
Do I need a 32A cable for a Seal 6 DM-i?
No. The most the car will take is 6.6 kW, and only on Comfort Lite and Comfort. A 16A cable carries 3.7 kW and covers the Boost outright, while a 32A one buys current neither version accepts.
Will a 7 kW home charger help?
It will not make the Boost any quicker than a 3.3 kW point, and the Comfort stops at 6.6 kW regardless. The charger is the car, not the wall box.
Can a Seal 6 DM-i use a rapid charger?
Comfort Lite and Comfort can, at 26 kW, giving thirty to eighty per cent in 23 minutes. The Boost has no DC socket at all.
