The facelift did not change the charger
You will find claims that the 2024 update altered the onboard charger. It did not. Polestar own owner manuals settle it: the pre facelift three phase table reads 6 amps 4 kW, 10 amps 6.8 kW, 16 amps 11 kW maximum, and the post facelift table reads 6 amps 4 kW, 10 amps 7 kW, 16 amps 11 kW maximum. Same ceiling, same 48 amp single phase row, same hardware.
What the facelift genuinely changed was the battery, from 78 to 82 kWh on the Long Range, the DC peak from 155 to 205 kW, and the drive layout of the single motor car from front wheel to rear wheel drive. The charger was left alone.
7.2 or 7.4, and why you see both
There is no version of this car that charges faster at a house than another. The 11 kW rating is a three phase one; a British supply offers a single phase and 32 amps of it, so the answer is 7.4 kW across the range. Polestar's manual writes it as 7.2 kW, which is the same thing at a slightly more conservative voltage.
Batteries and range across the versions
The Standard Range started at 69 kWh gross and grew to 70 for the 2025 model year, with 66 to 67 usable. The Long Range was 78 kWh gross and 75 usable before the facelift and 82 gross with 79 usable after it. WLTP range runs from 297 miles on an early Standard Range to 409 on the current Long Range single motor, with the Performance Pack car quoted at 352.
Rapid charging moved a long way: 135 to 150 kW on the early cars against up to 205 kW after the facelift, and 180 kW on the newest Standard Range. None of that touches the number on your driveway.
How long a full charge takes

Those times come from dividing the pack by the delivered power and adding 13 per cent for losses, then rounding to the quarter hour. Range added per hour assumes a year round 3.5 miles per kWh rather than a best case figure. The two figures cover the Standard Range and the post facelift Long Range.
Eleven hours for a Long Range car from genuinely empty, which is an overnight job rather than an evening one. In practice nobody charges from zero; a forty mile day costs under two hours on the drive.
No larger charger was ever offered
Unlike the Polestar 4, the 2 never had an optional 22 kW charger. No Polestar 2 manual contains a 32 amp three phase row. There is nothing to specify and nothing to miss out on, which at least makes the buying decision simple.
Which length for a Polestar 2
The flap is on the nearside rear quarter, operated by hand, in the position a fuel filler would occupy. A UK owner puts it plainly: charging is by CCS under the manually operated petrol flap on the near side rear. The inlet is at the nearside rear, in the conventional filler position. Being on the kerb side is a small everyday advantage; being at the back means the length you need depends on whether you nose in or reverse.
The car is 4.6 metres. Ten metres covers most driveways without thought; five metres is right if you reverse in and the charge point sits toward the back of the bay. Park the car where it normally lives, walk the run with a tape, and buy the next size up from what you measure.
How these cables are built
It is made to IEC 62196-2, CE marked, and sealed to IP55 across a -30C to +50C temperature range.

Did the 2024 facelift change the onboard charger?
No. Both generations carry the same 11 kW three phase charger and both take 32 amps on one phase. The facelift changed the battery, the DC peak and the drive layout.
Is it 7.2 kW or 7.4 kW at home?
They are the same thing. Polestar manual prints 7.2 kW for the 32 amp single phase row; the databases round the same figure up to 7.4.
Where is the charge socket?
Nearside rear quarter panel, behind a manually operated flap.
Do I need a three phase cable?
No. A 32A single phase Type 2 lead carries everything a UK home charge point can supply.
