The Ariya is one of the few cars where the charger spec varies
Most manufacturers fit one AC charger across a range. Nissan did not. The Ariya has a 7.4 kW single phase unit as its base specification, with a 22 kW three phase charger standard on 87 kWh cars and sold as an option on 63 kWh ones. So two Ariyas on the same street can have different charging hardware behind an identical flap.
It changes nothing at a house, where one phase means 7.4 kW either way and the 32A single phase lead delivers all of it. It changes a great deal at a three phase workplace post, where a 22 kW car finishes an 87 kWh battery in four hours instead of thirteen. If you do not know which charger your car has, the invoice or the Nissan app will tell you before you spend anything on a three phase cable.

Hours come from dividing the pack by the power the car actually draws, with 13 per cent added for losses. Both columns are usable figures, 63 and 87 kWh. Range is up to 250 miles WLTP on the smaller battery, 329 on the front drive 87 kWh and 319 on the e-4ORCE. Range added per hour assumes a year round 3.5 miles per kWh rather than a best case figure.
Which length, and a note on the port side
The Ariya charges from the front nearside wing, behind the front wheel and ahead of the passenger door, on a UK car. That is worth stating plainly because Nissan mirrors the port between left and right hand drive, and its own right hand drive manual carries a separate diagram to prove it. European sources will tell you the other side.
Facing the wall box, five metres usually does it. Backed in, or out at the kerb, and ten is the safer order on a car this size. Work it out from where the car genuinely sits, not where it could sit, and leave slack.
How these cables are built
Construction is to IEC 62196-2 with CE marking, IP55 weather protection and a -30C to +50C operating range.
On the three pin side the standard is IEC 62752, with CE marking, IP67 sealing and a -30C to +60C range. Warranty is two years from the manufacturer, delivery free next working day, returns accepted for 30 days.

Does the Nissan Ariya have a 22kW charger?
On 87 kWh cars it is standard, and on 63 kWh cars it was an option, according to Nissan UK. It only matters where a three phase supply exists. At home, on one phase, every Ariya draws 7.4 kW.
Which cable does an Ariya need?
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 32A single phase for home and for untethered public posts. Add the three phase version only if your car has the 22 kW charger and you regularly use a three phase post.
How long does an Ariya take to charge at home?
From empty at 7.4 kW, about nine and a half hours for the 63 kWh battery and thirteen and a half for the 87 kWh. Overnight on a cheap rate adds roughly 180 miles.
Which side is the Ariya charge port on?
The front nearside wing on a UK car, the kerb side, behind the front wheel. Nissan mirrors it for left hand drive markets, so photos from Europe show it on the other side.
