A plug-in that is not held back by a British supply
Most plug-in hybrids we write about quote a charging figure they cannot reach at a house, because it needs two or three electrical phases. The Tucson is not one of them. Its 7.2 kW onboard charger is single phase, which means a normal UK home supply hands the car every watt it is rated for.
ADAC measured a full charge at 102 minutes, and a UK charger installer quotes about an hour and fifty from empty on a 7 kW home point. Both land in the same place, which is a reasonable check on the 7.2 kW figure. A 32A cable is therefore genuinely worth having here.
And nowhere else to plug in
Rapid chargers are irrelevant here, because there is no DC connector to plug them into. The Type 2 cable does all of the work, which is why a missing one on a used car is a bigger problem than most buyers expect.
Hyundai UK's own charging page for this car lists a wall box and a domestic socket and nothing else, which is how we know rather than merely suspect.

Times below are computed from the pack size and the power drawn with 13 per cent allowed for charging losses. The table uses 13.8 kWh gross because Hyundai publishes no usable figure, so the real times are slightly shorter. Electric range is 38 to 39 miles WLTP on the 2021 to 2024 car and up to 43 miles on the 2024 facelift.
Under two hours for forty miles is the kind of figure that changes behaviour: it is a charge you do while unloading the shopping, not something you plan an evening around.
Which length for a Tucson
The charge flap is at the rear, and it is separate from the fuel filler flap, each with its own lock. We are not going to tell you which side of the car it is on, because Hyundai does not publish it for right hand drive and the only description we found was written for a left hand drive car. Thirty seconds looking at your own Tucson beats us guessing.
The Tucson is 4.5 metres long. A rear port means reversing towards the charge point is the easy case if it is on the matching side, and 5 metres covers that. Nose in and the lead travels the length of the car, so 10 metres. Work it out from where the car genuinely sits, not where it could sit, and leave slack.

It is a CE marked IEC 62196-2 cable, IP55 against the weather, rated to work between -30C and +50C.

What cable does a Tucson Plug-in Hybrid need?
A 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The 7.2 kW charger is single phase, so a British home supply delivers all of it and a 16A lead would roughly double the time.
How long does it take to charge?
About an hour and fifty minutes to two hours from empty on a 7 kW home point, which matches ADAC's measured 102 minutes on the 13.8 kWh pack.
Can a Tucson Plug-in Hybrid rapid charge?
No. There is no DC socket of any kind, and Hyundai UK's own charging page lists only AC options. The Type 2 cable is the only way to charge it.
Which side is the charge flap on?
It is at the rear, separate from the fuel filler, but Hyundai does not publish the side for a UK car so we will not state it. Have a look before choosing a cable length.
