Three cars wearing one name
The Ioniq Electric of 2016 to 2019 holds 28 kWh usable and did 174 miles on the old NEDC test, with a 6.6 kW charger. The 2020 facelift went to 38.3 kWh usable and 193 miles WLTP, with a 7.2 kW charger. The Plug-in Hybrid carries 8.9 kWh and about 32 miles of electric range on roughly 3.6 kW.
So which cable you want depends on which Ioniq you have, and the split is clean: 32A for either Electric, 16A for the Plug-in Hybrid, whose charger cannot use more.
Every one of them is single phase, which is good news
A lot of the cars on this site quote a charging figure that needs two or three electrical phases and collapses on the single phase a British house supplies. None of the Ioniqs do that. Each version's rating is a single phase rating, so your home charge point hands the car the whole of it with nothing lost in translation.
A bigger cable cannot change this, because the limit sits in the car rather than the lead. On the Plug-in Hybrid that cuts the other way: its 3.6 kW ceiling is genuinely the car's limit, so a 32A cable finishes at the same minute as a 16A one and the money is better spent on length.

Hours are worked from battery size against power drawn, plus a 13 per cent allowance for what is lost as heat, rounded to fifteen minutes. Columns are the Plug-in Hybrid, the 2016 to 2019 Electric and the 2020 facelift Electric. The Plug-in Hybrid cannot use the top row: read it down the 16A line instead, which comes to a little over three hours.
The Plug-in Hybrid has no DC socket at all, so on that car the Type 2 lead is the only route into the battery. Both Electrics take CCS, 69 kW on the earlier car and 45 kW on the facelift.
Which length for an Ioniq
The Electric's inlet is reported on the rear nearside, the left of the body. We will be straight that this comes from spec databases rather than a Hyundai document or a photograph we have checked, and we found nothing at all for the Plug-in Hybrid. Look at your own car if the difference between 5 and 10 metres matters.
The Ioniq is 4.47 metres long. If the port is rear nearside as reported, reversing in with the charge point on the left is the easy case at 5 metres, and everything else wants 10. Choose on the real distance from inlet to charge point, not the distance on the drawing, and never buy it tight.

Which cable does my Ioniq need?
A 32A Type 2 to Type 2 lead for either Ioniq Electric, which draw 6.6 or 7.2 kW. A 16A lead is enough for the Plug-in Hybrid, whose charger stops at about 3.6 kW.
Does a British home supply slow an Ioniq down?
No, and that is unusual. Every Ioniq charger is single phase rated, so your home point delivers the car's full figure rather than a derated version of a three phase number.
Can the Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid rapid charge?
No. It has no DC socket, so the Type 2 cable is the only way to charge it. Both Ioniq Electrics do take CCS rapid charging.
Where is the charge port?
Reported on the rear nearside for the Electric, from database sources rather than Hyundai itself, and unpublished for the Plug-in Hybrid. Worth checking your own car before choosing a length.
