An 800 volt car that charges like any other at home
The e-tron GT shares its platform with the Porsche Taycan and runs at 800 volts, which is why DC charging reaches 320 kW and a ten to eighty per cent stop takes about eighteen minutes. The 2024 facelift lifted the battery from 83.7 kWh usable to 97, taking the RS to between 357 and 368 miles WLTP and the S to 367 to 374.
None of that changes the home charging picture. That headline assumes three phases arriving at the wall box. With one, which is what a house has, it is 7.4 kW. Which is exactly what a 32A single phase lead delivers, so that is the one to own and the three phase version adds nothing at a house. Audi UK quotes seventeen hours on a 7 kW wall box for the 97 kWh car, and that is a genuine single phase figure rather than a three phase one.
Two front ports, and one thing we cannot confirm
Like the e-tron and Q8 e-tron, the e-tron GT carries a charge port on each front wing, which means a short cable usually reaches whichever side your wall box is on. That is the useful half.
The half we cannot give you is which of the two takes DC. On the e-tron and Q8 e-tron a UK owner has confirmed it is the offside; on the e-tron GT the one account we found suggests the opposite, and no manufacturer source states it. For home charging it makes no difference, since both accept Type 2 AC. If you plan to use rapid chargers, find out which side yours is before you need to know it in a hurry.

The gap between fifteen hours on a home supply and eighteen minutes on a 320 kW rapid is the widest of any car we write about, and it tells you what this cable is for: overnight, unhurried, at the cheapest rate of the day.
Which length for an e-tron GT
Measure to the nearer front wing. The e-tron GT is 4.99 metres long and very low, which means it is usually parked nose-in where the driveway allows, and a front inlet on the correct side then sits close to the wall box.
On that basis 5 metres suits most home installations. Ten metres is for charge points set well back, or for a car that has to sit across a shared drive. The measurement that counts is the one taken with the car in its usual spot, plus a margin for the slack the lead needs.
How these cables are built
The lead is an IEC 62196-2 design, CE marked, IP55 sealed against a British winter and rated from -30C to +50C.

What cable does an e-tron GT need?
A 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable. There is a port on each front wing, so measure to whichever one is nearer your charge point.
How long does an e-tron GT take to charge at home?
About fifteen hours for the 97 kWh facelift and thirteen for the earlier 83.7 kWh car, from empty at 7.4 kW. Audi UK's own figure is seventeen hours on a 7 kW point.
Which port takes rapid charging?
We cannot tell you reliably. On the e-tron and Q8 e-tron it is the offside port, but the one account we found for the e-tron GT reverses that and no manufacturer source states it. Both take Type 2 AC, so home charging is unaffected.
Does the 800 volt system help at home?
No. It is what makes DC charging reach 320 kW, but on AC the car is limited by the same 11 kW charger and the same single phase supply as everything else, so 7.4 kW at a house.
