    The price and specification guide lists the single phase case directly: AC current, home wall box or public charger at 7.4 kW, Type 2, four hours ten minutes on the 44 kWh car and five hours five on the 54 kWh, for twenty to eighty per cent. The three phase rows read two hours 55 and three hours 25.

    The British specification is more generous than the European one and it makes no practical difference. Where Europe charges extra for the 11 kW three phase charger, UK cars have it as standard. On a domestic single phase supply it still delivers 7.4 kW, exactly what the cheaper charger would have done. So the 11 kW charger is standard on a British Frontera and delivers 7.4 kW on a British driveway. Vauxhall press information says the same: the car comes fitted with an 11 kW three phase onboard charger.

    Two batteries, both lithium iron phosphate

    The 44 kWh car is quoted at 186 miles WLTP High and the 54 kWh at 253, with rapid charging at 100 kW taking twenty to eighty per cent in 26 and 28 minutes respectively. Both packs use LFP chemistry, which tolerates being charged to 100 per cent routinely rather than wanting to be left at eighty, and that suits a car charged overnight on a cheap tariff.

    One honest note on capacity. Vauxhall publishes gross figures only. The usable figures in circulation, 43.8 of 44 and 53.5 of 54, imply a buffer under one per cent, which is unusually small and suggests the quoted total may itself be derived from the usable figure. We would treat them as estimates rather than manufacturer numbers.

    The calculation is the battery over the delivered kW, uplifted 13 per cent for charging losses, quarter hour rounded. The range column is deliberately cautious, at 3.5 miles per kWh. Both packs are shown from their gross figures, so real times run a little shorter.

    Seven hours for the 54 kWh car from empty fits one overnight window comfortably. The 44 kWh car is under six, which leaves room even on a shorter off peak period.

    Range figures have moved between model years

    Worth knowing if you are comparing a road test against a current brochure. The MY25 guide quoted 190 and 248 miles; the MY26 guide says 186 and 253; EV Database models 193 and 254. These are the same cars with restated homologation figures rather than any change to the hardware, so date stamp whatever source you are reading.

    Which length for a Frontera Electric

    Vauxhall names the side itself, which is helpfully unambiguous: the charging flap is located on the passenger side of the Frontera Electric. That is the nearside on a British car. Look to the nearside rear wing for the flap. It is the same spot a fuel filler occupies, on the pavement side of a UK car, and it makes reversing onto the drive the cheaper option in cable terms.

    The car is 4.39 metres. Ten metres is the default for a rear socket at that length; five works if you reverse in with the charge point close to the rear wing. The honest way to choose is to measure the real parking position and allow two metres spare.

    How these cables are built

    It is a CE marked IEC 62196-2 cable, IP55 against the weather, rated to work between -30C and +50C.

    The three pin cable is built to IEC 62752, CE marked, sealed to IP67 and rated from -30C to +60C. It carries a two year manufacturer's warranty, ships free on next working day delivery, and can go back inside 30 days.

    What does a Frontera Electric charge at on a home wall box?

    About 7.4 kW. Vauxhall own price guide prints that row: four hours ten minutes for 20 to 80 per cent on the 44 kWh car, five hours five on the 54 kWh.

    Is the 11 kW charger standard?

    Yes on UK cars, along with a three phase Mode 3 cable. It gives 7.4 kW at home because a British house has one phase.

    Can I charge an LFP battery to 100 per cent?

    Yes. Lithium iron phosphate chemistry is happy being charged fully on a routine basis, which suits an overnight tariff.

    Where is the charge socket?

    Nearside rear quarter. Vauxhall states the flap is on the passenger side.
