A plug-in hybrid that can use a rapid charger
Most plug-in hybrids have no DC socket at all, and the assumption that they never do is a reasonable one to make and wrong here. The E-Pace P300e has a combined CCS inlet, and Jaguar's own technical data states the case precisely: "DC Charger 50kW. 30 mins to 80% (max rate 32kW)". The charger may be a 50 kW unit but the car accepts 32 kW, and on a pack this size that gives you eighty per cent in half an hour.
The same is true of the mechanically related Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport plug-in hybrids, and Jaguar Land Rover said so when it launched them. It makes the E-Pace unusually flexible for a car whose electric range is around 36 to 38 miles.
At home it is a 7 kW car, and only 7 kW
Refreshingly, the single phase rate is on the record at 7 kW rather than left implied by a three phase headline. A 32A cable carries 7.4 kW, so the cable is never what holds the car back.
Jaguar's technical data insert gives the home case directly: a 7 kW wall box takes 1.4 hours to eighty per cent and 2.2 hours to full. Fifteen kilowatt hours over 2.2 hours is 6.8 kW, which confirms a 7 kW unit and rules out anything faster.
You may come across a German technical entry claiming this car accepts up to 22 kW on three phases. That entry contradicts itself: the charge time it publishes alongside the claim implies 6.8 kW, and the equivalent entries for the Evoque and Discovery Sport plug-in hybrids say single phase at 7.0 kW. Treat the E-Pace as a 7 kW single phase car, which is also good news, because a British house delivers all of it. A heavier lead makes no difference, because nothing downstream of the onboard charger sets the pace.
The battery, and which year yours is
Jaguar states 11.6 kWh usable. Gross capacity drifted slightly across the life of the car, recorded as 15.0 kWh on 2021 builds and 14.9 kWh on 2023 to 2024 builds, with a net figure of 12.0 kWh in German data against Jaguar's 11.6.
Electric range is 36.0 to 38.5 miles WLTP on Jaguar's own figures, and German data gives 55 km for the 2021 car rising to 65 km for the later one. So a newer E-Pace P300e goes meaningfully further on electricity than an early one despite a fractionally smaller gross pack, which is the kind of thing only a specification table tells you.

The arithmetic is simple: kWh over kW, 13 per cent on top for losses, rounded to the nearest quarter hour. The miles column uses 3.5 miles per kWh, which holds up in winter as well as summer. Working from Jaguar's 11.6 kWh usable figure, which is why the top row lands close to Jaguar's own 2.2 hours.
Two hours to fill the battery is about as convenient as plug-in hybrid charging gets. Add a 32 kW rapid socket and this is a car you can genuinely run on electricity for short journeys without planning around it.
Which length for an E-Pace
An honest caveat. The port is on a rear flank, but the only positional evidence we can find is a German entry written from a left hand drive car, which translates to the nearside rear. No Jaguar document or UK source we could find states the side, so we would rather you looked than relied on our translation.
The E-Pace is 4.4 metres, so with a rear socket ten metres is the safe default and five works only where the car reverses in beside its charge point. The honest way to choose is to measure the real parking position and allow two metres spare.
