The port is on the other side from the Tiggo 7 and 8
This one catches people who already own another Chery. The Tiggo 9's charging socket is on the nearside rear, with the petrol filler on the offside, which is the opposite arrangement to the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8. Chery's own right-hand-drive specification sheet records it as passenger side rear, and a UK road test confirms it for a British car in plain words.
The nearside is the kerb side, which is a genuine convenience at a public charge point. On a driveway it means measuring to the left-hand rear corner rather than the right, and on a vehicle of 4.82 metres that difference is easily two metres of cable.
A rate that has actually been measured here
A 6.6 kW onboard charger is the whole story. It is a single phase unit needing about 29 amps, so a British house has no difficulty supplying it and a 7.4 kW charge point simply runs at the car's pace rather than its own.
This is the one Chery where somebody has put a meter on it. A UK road test plugged a Tiggo 9 into a 7.4 kW single phase wall box, saw a maximum of 7 kW at the charge point, and recorded a thirteen to ninety-nine per cent charge in four hours thirty-five minutes. Those two numbers are not in conflict: 7 kW is what the wall box delivered and the 6.47 kW that arrives when you divide the energy by the time is what reached the battery, the difference being conversion loss in the onboard charger. It confirms 6.6 kW as the car-side rating from real measurement rather than a data sheet.
The biggest battery and the fastest DC of the three
The UK gets only the all-wheel-drive version, with a 34.4 kWh battery, 428 PS and 580 newton metres. Chery UK quotes 87 miles of electric range, though 91 miles is widely repeated in the UK press from an earlier press pack. DC charging reaches 71 kW, giving thirty to eighty per cent in eighteen to twenty minutes, and the car offers 6.6 kW of vehicle-to-load power for running tools or appliances.
An export specification sheet also lists a 19 kWh front-wheel-drive grade with 41 kW DC charging. That car is not sold in the UK, so its figures should not be mixed in.

The arithmetic is simple: kWh over kW, 13 per cent on top for losses, rounded to the nearest quarter hour. The range column is deliberately cautious, at 3.5 miles per kWh. Chery publishes no usable figure, so the 34.4 kWh rated capacity is used. The road test above suggests the real usable window is close to that, which makes the table more reliable here than on the smaller Chery hybrids.
Six and a half hours from flat is a full night rather than an evening, which is the price of the longest electric range in the range. Spending more on the lead changes nothing, as the car sets the rate.
Which length for a Tiggo 9
Nearside rear on a 4.82 metre SUV. If your charge point is on the left as you face the house and you reverse in, the run is short. Nose in, or a wall box on the offside, and you are routing the lead round or under the car.
Ten metres is the sensible default and 15 metres covers the awkward layouts. Work it out from where the car genuinely sits, not where it could sit, and leave slack. Do not assume a lead that suited a Tiggo 7 or 8 will work here, because the socket has moved sides.
