The manufacturer gives you the number, which is rare
This is one of the few cars where the home figure comes from the maker rather than from arithmetic. The published rating is 7 kW on a single phase next to the higher three phase number, which puts the car just below what a 32A cable can deliver.
The Electrified G80 owner's manual prints the onboard charger's maximum output as 7 kW on a single phase and 10.5 kW on three, in the same row. Most manufacturers publish only the three phase figure and leave a British buyer to work out the rest. Here it is settled, and the answer for a driveway is 7 kW.
The 800 volt architecture changes none of that. It is what lets DC charging reach 187 kW and a ten to eighty stop of around 22 to 25 minutes, and it does nothing whatever on alternating current. A car can be extraordinary on a motorway rapid and entirely ordinary on a wall box, and this one is.
A charging flap in the front of the car
The charge socket is at the front of the car rather than on a flank, which changes the length calculation entirely: you measure from the nose to the charge point, and whether you park nose in or reverse becomes the whole question rather than a detail.
On the Electrified G80 it sits at the nearside front, integrated into the grille area, and it is electrically operated as well as heated so it does not freeze shut in winter. The owner's manual carries separate left and right hand drive interior views but only one exterior view, which is how we know the port is not mirrored for Britain: it stays on the vehicle's left, the kerb side here.
On a saloon 5.1 metres long that is a considerable advantage. Nose into the space and a short lead reaches the wall box without going near the doors.
Two battery sizes across the life of the car
The 2022 to 2024 car carries 87.2 kWh with 323 miles WLTP. The 2025 facelift carries 94.5 kWh, described by Genesis as a fourth generation high voltage battery, for 354 miles combined, and is the version currently on sale from 75,615 on the road. Genesis publishes nameplate capacities; the usable figures in circulation are third party estimates rather than Genesis numbers.
Genesis supplies a five metre Mode 3 cable rated up to 22 kW, far above anything the car can draw. That is normal practice and not a sign the car takes 22 kW.

Hours come from dividing the pack by the power the car actually draws, with 13 per cent added for losses. Miles per hour is worked at 3.5 miles per kWh, a figure that survives a cold morning. Columns are the 87.2 kWh car and the 94.5 kWh facelift. The home row uses Genesis's own 7 kW rather than the 7.4 kW a cable can carry.
Fifteen hours on the larger pack from genuinely flat is a figure to understand rather than to plan around. At 7 kW the car gains about 25 miles an hour, so an overnight window on a cheap tariff replaces a long day's driving.
Which length for an Electrified G80
Measure from the front of the car to the charge point with it parked where it actually lives. Nose in and five metres is plausible even on a car this size; reverse in and you are adding five metres of Genesis to the run.
Ten metres is the safer default for most owners, and fifteen suits a long driveway or a garage where the wall box is at the far end. Choose on the real distance from inlet to charge point, not the distance on the drawing, and never buy it tight.

IEC 62196-2 construction, CE marked, IP55 sealed and tested from -30C through to +50C.
The three pin cable is built to IEC 62752, CE marked, sealed to IP67 and rated from -30C to +60C. Warranty is two years from the manufacturer, delivery free next working day, returns accepted for 30 days.

How fast does an Electrified G80 charge at home?
7 kW, and that is Genesis's own published single phase figure rather than an estimate. The three phase rating is 10.5 kW and needs a supply a house does not have.
Where is the charge socket?
At the nearside front of the car, in the grille area. It opens electrically and is heated against freezing. Measure your cable from the nose, not from a wing.
Does the 800 volt system make home charging faster?
No. It is what allows 187 kW on a DC rapid charger and a stop of around 22 to 25 minutes. On alternating current the car is limited by its onboard charger like any other.
What cable does it need?
A 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The car draws 7 kW, so the cable has a little headroom over it.
