    Protection rather than tidiness

Everything else in this range is a bag, and a bag keeps your boot clean. This is a case, and a case also keeps the cable intact. The difference shows up over years rather than weeks: no crushed coils, no pressure on the connector heads, no grit ground into the pins by a sliding toolbox.

If the car is a work vehicle, or the boot carries anything heavier than shopping, this is the one that survives.

    What it takes

A coiled charging lead with room for the control box of a portable charger alongside it. Lay the heads on top of the coil, zip it, and it will sit under a load without complaint.

    Where it lives

In the boot for most owners, since that is where the cable needs to be. At home it stacks on a shelf without slumping, which a soft bag will not do. If the lead never leaves the house, a wall bracket is a cheaper answer and kinder to the cable, because nothing gets coiled at all.

    Hard carry case questions

Why choose a case over a bag?

Because of what happens on top of it. A case takes the load and the cable inside keeps its shape, so the connectors are never pressed or twisted. A bag is lighter and cheaper and does the job of keeping your boot clean.

    Will my 10m cable fit?

Yes, coiled loosely, with space for a control box beside it. For 15m and 20m leads, the large bag in the range is the one that swallows the bulk.

    Is it waterproof?

The shell is water resistant and wipes clean. Open it up at home if the cable went away wet, since a sealed case holds moisture in as effectively as it keeps it out.

Does it stop the connectors getting damaged?

That is the main reason to buy it. Connector pins collect grit and take knocks when a lead rolls loose in a boot, and that is what eventually produces an intermittent charging fault.
