Tesla hides it inside the rear light cluster on the left of the body, behind a flap that opens on command, and that position is fixed by the bodyshell rather than by market. It does not mirror for right hand drive, so a British Tesla charges from the nearside rear just as a European one does. Several sources describe it as the driver's side, which is only true in a left hand drive country, and repeating that here would put the socket on the wrong flank.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWorth saying plainly: these leads are for AC charging at home or at a public post. A lead a little longer than you need coils neatly; one a little shorter is useless. Five metres is right where the charge point is beside the socket, ten where it is not, and fifteen or twenty for a garage unit with the car outside.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA rear nearside socket is the kerb side at the back, which helps at a public post and means reversing onto a driveway is the cheaper option in cable terms. A British house has one phase, so 7.4 kW is the figure that applies on your driveway and the 32A single phase cable delivers all of it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe battery decides how long, not how fast. A Rear-Wheel Drive car is around 57 kWh usable and a Long Range around 75, so the gap between them is roughly two and a half hours on the same cable.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eThe port is on the kerb side, not the driver side\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eTesla's own manual puts it plainly: the charge port is on the left side of the car, behind a door that forms part of the rear tail light assembly.
