The two battery electrics take 7.4 kW; every iV plug-in hybrid on this page is held near 3.6 to 4 kW by its own onboard charger.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWhat the third column means\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eRead the third column rather than the brochure. A domestic supply in this country is one phase, and a 32 amp charge point on it works out at roughly 7.4 kW. Anything quoted higher is counting phases you do not have; anything quoted lower is the car holding itself back.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWhere the {M} range divides\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Enyaq and Elroq reach 7.4 kW, and a 32 amp cable carries all of it. The Octavia iV, Superb iV, Kodiaq iV and the little Citigo-e iV sit between 3.6 and 4 kW, and anything larger simply waits on the car.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Citigo-e iV is worth a paragraph of its own because it is the one people assume is faulty. Its charger is rated 7.2 kW, but it is a two phase design taking 16 amps from each phase, and a British house supplies one phase. The car therefore draws about 3.6 kW and a 7 kW charge point is half wasted on it. Owners have taken these cars to dealers over it and found nothing wrong, because there is nothing wrong.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOne genuine exception across the whole plug-in hybrid category: the Kodiaq iV has a CCS rapid charging socket at 50 kW. Almost no plug-in hybrid does, so if your Skoda is a Kodiaq iV you have a motorway option that an Octavia iV owner does not.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePort position follows the group rule without exception here: MEB battery electrics at the rear offside, iV plug-in hybrids at the front nearside.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003c!-- split --\u003e\u003ch2\u003eHow long a cable you need\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe only reliable way is to measure it. Range added per hour assumes a year round 3.5 miles per kWh rather than a best case figure. Skoda's own technical data quotes about eight and a quarter hours at 11 kW three phase and twelve and a quarter at 7.4 kW single phase for the 77 kWh pack, which matches.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eDC rapid charging is 120 kW on the early cars and 135 to 185 kW across the facelift range, so an Enyaq on a long run is well served. The \u003ca href=\"\/products\/type-2-to-type-2-charging-cables\"\u003eType 2 lead\u003c\/a\u003e is for home and the supermarket, and that is where most of its charging happens.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eWhich length for an Enyaq\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe inlet is on the rear offside flank, the right hand side of the body. That is the standard position for Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, which the Enyaq shares with the Elroq and, under licence, the Ford Capri and Explorer. It is on the driver's side of a UK car and it does not swap over.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe Enyaq is 4.65 metres long and the port sits well back. Reverse onto a drive with the charge point on the right and 5 metres is comfortable. Shared parking or a long drive is where the 15 and 20 metre versions come in.
