One is limited by a small charger; the other by the number of phases its charger wants.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWhy the Mii Electric stops at 3.6 kW\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eIts charger is rated 7.2 kW, and that number is real, but it is a two phase design taking 16 amps from each phase. A British house supplies one phase, so the car draws 16 amps and settles near 3.6 kW. Half the charger waits for a supply that domestic wiring does not provide.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis one catches people out more than any other car we sell a cable for. Owners of the Mii and its Volkswagen e-up and Skoda Citigo-e siblings have taken cars back to dealers, had software updates applied and run diagnostic tools over them, all to explain why a 7 kW charge point only gives 3.6. Nothing was ever wrong. Seat's own claim of eighty per cent in four hours from a 7.2 kW charger is simply not achievable on a normal British supply.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWhat actually separates one {M} from another\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eRead the third column as the real figure: one phase, 32 amps, about 7.4 kW at most.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Leon e-Hybrid is the other case: a genuinely 3.6 kW single phase charger on cars to mid-2024, and a 16 amp cable covers it completely, rising to 11 kW three phase on the facelift, which gives about 7.4 kW here. The pre-facelift Leon also has no DC socket at all, which Seat states in its own owner manual in as many words.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePort position splits by drivetrain in the usual group pattern: the Leon e-Hybrid charges from the nearside front wing ahead of the door, the Mii Electric from the offside rear quarter where the petrol car kept its fuel flap.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBecause the Mii is held to 3.6 kW, its CCS socket is more useful than it sounds. A twenty minute rapid stop puts in more than three hours on the driveway would.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003c!-- split --\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWhich length to order\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe run matters, not the car. Park as you normally would, walk the distance from the charge point to the socket, and add a metre or two. That number is what to order.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Mii is a very short car, which forgives a lot even with an offside rear socket. Five metres usually reaches; ten gives you a free choice of parking direction.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eThe build, and where to look next\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eBuild is common across the range. That is the ceiling. Seat quotes a full charge in three hours forty two minutes on a 3.6 kW supply, and a 7 kW home charge point will not beat it because the car cannot take 7 kW.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThat is not a criticism of the car, it is simply how Volkswagen Group specified the first generation of these plug-in hybrids. Volkswagen own material describes the later upgrade as going to \"up to 11 kW (previously 3.6 kW)\", which confirms what the earlier number was.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eNo rapid charging at all before 2024\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eSeat own owner manual says it in as many words: \"Direct current charging is not compatible with this vehicle.\" The 2023 edition is even blunter about it. There is no rapid charging on this one, and no socket that could offer it. Every kilowatt hour it ever receives comes down the \u003ca href=\"\/products\/type-2-to-type-2-charging-cables\"\u003eType 2 cable\u003c\/a\u003e, so the lead is a functional part of the car rather than something kept in the boot for emergencies.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2024 facelift changed that, adding 50 kW DC for the first time along with a much larger battery. If you have a post facelift car you have a rapid socket; if not, you do not, and no software update will produce one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eThe facelift moved almost everything\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe battery went from 13.1 kWh gross with 10.6 usable to 25.7 gross with 19.7 usable. Electric range went from 36 to 40 miles to 78 or 83 depending on body. The charger went to 11 kW three phase, which at a British house gives 7.4 kW. And DC charging appeared.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eOne note on published figures: Seat own manual technical data table prints 12.8 kWh next to a \"48V\" label for the earlier car, which is an error in that table. Range added per hour assumes a year round 3.5 miles per kWh rather than a best case figure. The two battery figures cover the cars before and after the facelift.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eOn the earlier car a full charge is under four hours, so an evening covers it comfortably even at 3.6 kW. There is no urgency to a 32 amp cable except that it is the more useful thing to own long term.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eWhich length for a Leon\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe socket is at the front, which is less common and helpful. Seat own manual describes it as behind the battery charging cover on the front left hand side, with the manual release between the left wing panel and the bonnet hinge. That is identical to the 16 amp row.
