The arithmetic is 230 volts times 32 amps, or about 7.4 kW, and that is where the faster cars all land regardless of what their specification sheets claim.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eThe differences that change your order\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe current cars are simple. The Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Kona Electric and Inster all reach 7.4 kW at a British house, and the 32 amp lead is what reaches that figure. The Ioniq 5 and 6 are 800 volt cars, which transforms rapid charging and changes nothing on a driveway.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe first generation Ioniq is the one to check. Depending on year and variant it sits at 3.6, 6.6 or 7.2 kW, and the plug-in hybrid is the slowest of the three. The Tucson plug-in hybrid takes 7.2 kW, which is close enough to 7.4 that the distinction is academic.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAssume nothing about where the flap is on this range, because it is not in one place. The model pages state the flank and the end, which is what sets the length. The Ioniq 5 and 6 use the rear offside, the Kona the centre of the nose, and for one model Hyundai does not publish the flank at all. Run a tape from the charge point to where the charging socket will end up, then add a couple of metres for routing. The 2023 second generation runs 48.4 kWh and 65.4 kWh, about 234 and up to 319 miles. What moved underneath is the charger: cars up to about November 2019, and every 39 kWh car, use a 7.2 kW single phase unit, while later cars carry an 11 kW three phase one and the 2023 car a 10.5 kW three phase one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe good news is that it barely matters. British homes are supplied with one phase, so an 11 kW or 22 kW car rating lands at 7.4 kW on the driveway. A single phase Kona draws its full 7.2 kW at home; a three phase Kona draws 7.4. The 64 kWh first generation sits between the last two.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eDC rapid charging runs from 44 kW on the 39 kWh car to about 102 kW on the current Long Range, so motorway stops are handled without this cable.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eWhich length for a Kona\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe inlet is in the centre of the nose on every Kona Electric.
