There is no middle ground in this range and no model where the year changes the answer, which makes it one of the more straightforward brands here.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBoth plug-in hybrids share a charger with the wider group cars of the same era, so a Golf GTE or Octavia iV will feel familiar. Neither has a DC rapid socket, which puts the whole job on the Type 2 lead and makes a missing cable on a used car a real problem rather than an inconvenience.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCupra never offered a larger AC charger on any of these four, so there is no option box to have missed and no used car in the range that charges faster than another of the same model. That is worth knowing because the Born shares its platform with cars where the charger did change mid-life.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePort position follows the group pattern: the battery electrics charge from the offside rear quarter and the plug-in hybrids from the nearside front wing. On a domestic supply the car settles at 7.4 kW. A published technical sheet for the Born states both halves of the specification explicitly: a maximum of 7.4 kW at 32A on a single phase, and a maximum of 11 kW at 16A per phase across three. Cupra's own UK price list prints the row as a charging time of three hours thirty-three minutes from empty at 3.6 kW on 16 amps, alongside five hours from a 2.3 kW domestic socket. An Australian road test of the VZ version independently records the ceiling as 3.7 kW.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eA bigger cable cannot change this, because the limit sits in the car rather than the lead.
